Emperor

Latin name: Ophisaurus apodus

Kingdom: Animalia

phylum : Chordate

Subphylum: Vertebrate Subphylum

Class: Reptiles

Family: Rhabdomyidae

Species: The king snake lizard

II. Living habits

The life span of the king snake lizard is about 50 years. Living in the mountains and densely forested hilly areas at an altitude of 600-2650m, the king snake lizard reproduces by oviparity. The diet is carnivorous, feeding on invertebrates, and the zoo feeds crickets and suckling mice.

The king snake lizard is not poisonous. Common species of snake lizards include brittle snake lizard, thin brittle snake lizard, oriental brittle snake lizard, emperor snake lizard, etc. In fact, all snake lizards are non-toxic and often live in and near farmland with loose soil and low humidity. Usually lurking in caves or in soft soil, more than going out on sunny days, foraging for larvae of earthworms, slugs or beetles

III. Distribution

Emperor Snake lizards are produced in the northern Caucasus Mountains, a small part of Asia, the Middle East, and the former Soviet Union in the central area of Asia, where they live under the fallen leaves at the bottom of the forest. In the Balkans of Europe, there is a separate ethnic group on the coast of the Black Sea in the Crimea and the Caucasus.

Fourth, the difference between the king snake lizard and the snake

Although the king snake lizard is thick and long and has no limbs like a snake, the difference between them and snakes is:

1. Snakes have closed eyelids; snakes do not.

2. More than two-thirds of the snake lizard's body length is the tail; the snake's tail is shorter than the body.

3. Snake lizards have external ear holes; snakes do not.

4. The body of the snake lizard is covered with hard square scales, arranged in a ring, and the scales on the abdomen are small and multi-column;

5. Snakes and lizards' tails are easy to break automatically; snakes will not break their tails by themselves.

At present, the artificial breeding of the king snake lizard is mostly raised in zoos, but because of its special appearance, the snake lizard is deeply loved by the reptiles, and the number of personal breeding has gradually increased.
