Xiaoxiang pig, also known as mini pig, is popularly known as Qilixiang and Tenlixiang. It is native to the mountainous areas of ethnic minorities. Although it was raised in ancient times, the number was very small. It was only used as a tribute for the royal family and nobles to enjoy, and the common people were not allowed to eat it, thus limiting the development of fragrant pigs. After liberation, it was on the verge of extinction. It was not discovered until the late 1980s when the national livestock and poultry resources were surveyed, and only a few dozen were left at that time.  

Little pig is a miniature pig It has the characteristics of thick lean meat, fine fiber, small fat particles, strong aroma, early maturity and easy reproduction, and rarely weighs more than 50kg (pet pigs generally do not exceed 20kg), which is only available in my country in the world.

I. Morphological characteristics

Pure-bred fragrant pigs are small in size, with black, dense, fine and shiny coats, darker skin, and white ones have been found. The adult weight is only 50 ~60kg, body height is about 48cm, length is about 93cm, chest circumference is 96cm; the head is light and small, the mouth is slender, and most pigs have flat foreheads without wrinkles. Some individuals have parallel and shallow lines on the upper edge of the corners of their eyes, small and thin ears, short and thick necks, and slightly concave backs. The chest is wide and round, the abdomen is drooping, and it touches the ground more. The front 1/2, or 1/3 of the head to the neck and the buttocks are black, with a white spot in the middle of the face or a white line extending to the end of the nose (some pigs have black spots of varying sizes on the back and waist. There are black spots at the junction of black and white. 2~5cm, with a wide gray band with white fur on a black background, slender and soft coat. The tail is longer than the hocks, the breasts are not exposed, and the nipples are mostly 5-6 pairs.

II. Growth environment

The pig is produced in the low and middle mountains bordering Guizhou and Guangxi The area, with an altitude of about 800m, belongs to the subtropical climate, the annual average temperature is 15~30℃, the annual precipitation is 1100~1700mm, and the frost-free period is mostly 280~502d. It is a dwarf breed that is resistant to rough feeding and extensive, formed through natural and artificial selection of past dynasties. Due to the fact that it lives on various flowers, plants and fruits all the year round, it has created a small size, early sexual maturity, stable genetics and thin skin. It is one of the domestic animals favored by people of all ethnic groups in the area because of its tenderness, small bones and strong aroma.

Four. Breeding methods

Xiaoxiang pigs are sexually mature early, and the boars at 2 months of age with a weight of about 8kg will climb over and chase the sows , sows come into estrus at 3 months of age. The estrus cycle is 18 to 21 days and lasts for 4 days. At the age of 4 months, the average gestation period is 114 days. The average litter of primiparous sows is 5.6, and the average litter of multiparous sows is 8.3. Head. Strengthen the management of breeding boars, increase nutrition, and let them exercise more. In order to prevent boars from masturbating, the boar pen should be built in the upwind direction of the sow pen and at a certain distance. The mating time is 30 hours after the onset of estrus, and the sows are reared in a single pen after 2 months of pregnancy to prevent squeezing and abortion.
