Protecting furry children is also the responsibility of our Shanghai volunteers! On April 9, netizen Ranch Lamb posted a message on the social platform, which was well received by netizens.
Information revealed: I received a call from parents in Hongkou for help. I rode 10 kilometers from Xuhui District to Hongkou District in the afternoon, and finally rescued four puppies that might be abandoned at home if they were not taken away. ! The wife is tired and it is really inconvenient to not have a motor vehicle during hard times! But seeing the furry kid happy, it's all worth it!

On the afternoon of April 11, The Paper reporter contacted the netizen who posted the news. Her name is Xiao Ni, she lives in Xuhui District, and is a sophomore in the High School Attached to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In mid-March , just after her 18th birthday, she submitted a volunteer application to the Xuhui District Youth League Committee and Tianping Road Street.
On April 9, Xiao Ni learned from a friend that because the owner was infected with the new crown virus, the four pet dogs were about to face the dilemma of being left unattended and abandoned at home. To this end, she relied on bicycles to ride a bicycle from Xuhui to Hongkou, rescued these four cute puppies, and safely transferred them to a professional pet hospital for foster care.

The following is Xiao Ni's self-report:
I am currently a student in the High School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. , I saw that many elderly neighbors needed help, so I came up with the idea of volunteering to help everyone. It happened that I just celebrated my birthday, and I was one of the kind of children who was well cared for by my parents, so I hope that through this volunteer experience, I can grow up and contribute to the society.
In my volunteer work, I am mainly responsible for assisting nucleic acid testing scan codes, distributing supplies, taking out garbage, and helping some elderly people who do not have mobile phones to register nucleic acid testing information and notify them of the test results.
A few days ago, I heard from a friend that there were several puppies in his community that needed rescue. The owners of these four puppies tested positive for the new crown and needed to go to a makeshift hospital. Isolation treatment was carried out, but the pet dogs could not be brought in together. Because of the epidemic prevention and control, the owners could not call the flash delivery, so they could only ask for help everywhere, hoping that someone could help them send their pet dogs to a professional pet boarding point .
Because I have two puppies myself, I can understand the owner's anxiety, so I discussed with my friends who are also volunteers to see if I can help. Because we have learned professional knowledge of disinfecting and have some practical experience, we can carry out the safe transfer of dogs while ensuring our own safety.
After negotiating and communicating with various parties, on April 9, I rode a bicycle from Xuhui District to Hongkou, arrived at the community where the helper was located, and picked up 4 puppies. Later, my friend also arrived. We disinfected the puppies first, then took them on foot, and went to the pet hospital we contacted earlier. Now the 4 puppies are being fostered under the care of professionals, and we are also relaxed. in one breath.
When I posted a photo of my friend with a dog on a social platform, many people contacted me and asked me to help transport pets at home. Some of the owners even cried because they were emotional , I'm relatively soft-hearted, and I added some people's WeChat at the beginning. But later, I was really too busy, and the prevention and control requirements were strict. As a volunteer, it was difficult for me to find a suitable way to transport pets every time. Therefore, for most cases, it is not so critical and has not been required. For pet owners who enter the Fangcang shelter hospital, I will advise them: don't transfer pets unless it is absolutely necessary. After all, this matter itself has certain risks. I am more of teaching owners how to disinfect and care for their pets, hoping to help them to the greatest extent possible.
Actually, many Shanghai residents have pets at home. These little guys are not only animals, but also family-like existences. I hope my little actions can ease the anxiety of some pet owners who need help. This is also the most meaningful coming-of-age gift I have given myself.
