Recently, Mr. Peng, a citizen, came to the Forest Police Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau and voluntarily turned in his pets: two black pond turtles.

Mr. Peng said that he bought these two artificially bred black pond turtles online at a price of 136 yuan and kept them as pets. Recently, through online research, he learned that the black pond turtle belongs to protected animals, Can not be arbitrarilybreeding, nor free to release. Mr. Peng didn't know how to deal with it, so he decided to ask the forest police for help.

By comparing the maps, the police confirmed that the black pond tortoise is an alien species and is not included in the list of key wildlife protection in my country, but belongs to Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The protected species is equivalent to the national first-level protected wild animals in my country.

Since the black pond turtle is an exotic species and cannot be released locally, the police of the Forest Police Detachment sent the two black pond turtles to the city wildlife rescue center for further treatment.

The police reminded that the invasion of alien species not only endangers the survival of species, but also damages the ecological environment. Citizens should not buy wild animals for breeding online, let alone release unknown species.
