The Madagascar vocal cockroach (Latin name: Gromphadorhina portentosa), also known as the American cockroach, is native to the tropical rainforest of Madagascar, with an adult body length of 5 to 7 cm. Probably the most famous petcockroachspecies, and it is also the earliest pet cockroach species to enter China. It can make sounds through the stomata, can climb smooth objects, both males and females are wingless, and the adult males have a raised breast carapace, which is also a tool for fighting between them.
