Arrived in former East Germany in the 1960s as a border patrol dog, especially along the Berlin Wall. In 1989, when the Berlin Wall was torn down, 7,000 strong patrol dogs were disbanded. Many Caucasian dogs were given to ordinary German families. Elaborate breeding in Germany has ensured the future of this discreet independent dog, and as it has become popular, breeders have paid more attention to selecting them for their docile qualities. The Caucasian is one of the largest bulldogs in the world. Although this dog is fierce, it is loyal to its owner and likes to be close to its owner. Currently, it is mostly used for livestock care and security.
